As part of the Goethal Bridge Replacement Project, the Travis Spur Rail Bridge over I-278 highway is replaced to allow for larger width of roadways that lead to and away from the new Goethals Bridge. The old five-span bridge had to be replaced by a new two-span bridge within a weekend rail traffic closure.

Careful engineering and 3D construction planning by UrbanTech helped finish the replacement with in a single weekend.

• Prepared crane plans to set 250,000 lb precast pier caps.

• Prepared erection and temporary falsework designs to construct the new bridge off-line.

• Peer reviewed the weekend roll-in engineering plans using SPMT.

• Prepared demolition plans for the existing bridge and piers.

• Interstate access to and from Staten Island was maintained throughout construction.

• All work completed in a single weekend railroad closure.
